There are moments in life when we can remember exactly where we were, who we were with, and what we were doing at the time. 9/11 is one of those kinds of days.
Today is very much about remembrance and a commitment to never forget those who were lost on that fateful morning. But it’s also a good day to appreciate resolve, resilience, and tenacity—the qualities that allow us to honor the past and heal while never failing to move forward. A refining moment to be sure, but not a defining one.
Even as we reflect on the events of 9/11, we are reminded of the state motto of New York itself, “Excelsior!”, which exhorts us to carry on, eyes fixed on what’s ahead, a future brimming with potential and possibilities.
Ever upward, ever onward.
